Muslim group protests quota, blasts Congress
NEW DELHI: A leading Muslim front today organised a march to Parliament to protest against providing reservation to Muslims across the board. The organisation wants the privilege to be limited to the weaker sections of the community.
The All India United Muslim Morcha said that extending reservation to all Muslims would only benefit the elite and assertive sections of the community. It particularly demanded that Dalit Muslims, who were debarred of the facilities available to Scheduled Castes since 1950 on grounds of religion, be brought back to the SC fold by amending Article 341 of the Constitution.

Earlier, addressing a demonstration outside Parliament, national president of the outfit M Ejaz Ali held that all Muslims did not need reservation and that it should benefit only the exploited sections among the community. “Our first responsibility is to bring Dalit Muslims in SC category by amending Article 341,” he said. He aded that the “economically backward Muslims too should be covered by creating a new category of economic backwardness. ”
